By training, an educationist is now a Director in the National Commission for Museums and Monuments in Nigeria. She is currently the Curator-in-Charge, National Museum of Colonial History, Aba on transfer from National Museum of Unity, Enugu where she also was the Curator-in-charge.
She holds a B.A. (Edu) in Nigerian Linguistics from the University of Lagos (1982); Master Degree from the same University (1985). She obtained a Diploma in Museology from the Institute of Archaeology and Museum Studies, Jos.
Mrs. Okonkwo participated actively in the valleys of the Niger Exhibition in Lagos (February, 1996), Symbols of Power and Authority in Nigerian Culture Exhibition in Lagos (May 19980; temporary exhibition on HIV/AIDS at the National Museum of Unity, Enugu (2005) etc.
She has attended many International Conference including the Common Wealth Association of Museums in Malawi, 1995; South Africa (2009) where she presented papers.
She is a community leader in her home town, Nawfia in Anambra State. She is married with children.
